Ok, look dude…
I get that there are “societal standards” of beauty, and that they change and are strange. It isn’t empirical, and what “beauty” is changes by culture, by area, by subculture, and hell, even by person. I understand that what one person called “beautiful” another calls “mundane” or “obscene” or even “grotesque.” There is not real “beauty,” there is only the “particular societal standards of beauty.”
But you know what else is simply “societal standards?” Pretty much everything. Like, almost all of everything ever. No one is smart. They are “the societal standards of smart.” No one is good at anything; they are only “the societal standards of good” at that thing. Think of any adjective ever, and boom; you’ve got yourself another societal standard.
So what’s the point of this “societal deemed” short “societal deemed” rant? Everything is measured by societal standards. We are social animals, living together, and as such, things occur within that frame. So, you can either operate within that scheme, acknowledging the shortcomings of that frame and try to change it while living a fulfilling life, OR you can bitch about it and kick against it and forever. Putting “Societal Standards of blahblah” in front of a term doesn’t make you enlightened or rebellious or effective or anything other than obnoxious.
Either do something or shut the fuck up. Changing your jargon doesn’t make you “liberated” or a revolutionary.
